Use with multiple monitors
Very nice Koi pond. And it has (nearly) excellent support for multiple monitors.
I’m testing this out on a late 2013 MAC Book Pro with 3 monitors (the Retina screen + 2 x Dell U2410 24-inch monitors, one of which is on HDMI, one of which is on a mini-Display port). No noticable slow-down on my machine for working tasks such as spread-sheet work, word-processing, and X-Code programming. Even works fine while I’m running Windows tools in VMWare.
I say “nearly” excellent multi-monitor support because of one thing: the Koi pond is simply replicated on all screens (a duplicate animated image). It would be SO much nicer to have the Koi pond actually EXTEND to the multiple montors, watching fish swim from one section of the pond (screen) to another.
Here’s my full wish list for the app (and yes, I’ll plunk down more money for these features);
1. Option to extend or duplicate Koi pond across multiple monitors. Right now, it’s duplicate only.
2. Add small animations such as dropping cherry pedals. The occasional dragonfly that the app already does is very nice.
3. Add weather… passing rain, etc…
4. Koi speed - these ones are a bit active compared to a real pond
5. Feeding the Koi for some personal interaction.
6. Splashing in the pond for some personal interaction.
7. When going in to screen save, require password to get out of screensaver, if that option is enabled in System Preferences. This allows the screen to be locked (e.g. when at lunch at work or on-site with a customer).
All-in-all, this is an excellent app, and comes highly recommended.
